Know Before You Go

What to Wear and Bring

  • Wear sturdy, comfortable footwear with good ankle support, along with good socks. Be sure to "break in" your footwear before hitting the trails.
  • Bring a map or take a picture of the map with your cell phone. Start small and choose the right activity for your fitness level.
  • Bring sunscreen, bug repellent, hat and sunglasses to protect your skin and eyes. If you are planning a bike ride, wear padding and helmets.
  • Pack a snack and water.
  • Pay attention to the weather. Dress appropriately, ideally in layers on cooler days.

At the trails

  • Lock your car and stow valuables in the trunk.
  •  Hike and bike with a friend. If your friend has four legs, he or she must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet.
  • Let someone know where you are going and when you will return. Know the park's phone number.
  • Respect the park, others in the park and the wildlife. Stay on marked trails. Be courteous, take photos and leave only with memories.

When leaving

  • Don't forget to check for ticks.
  • Do not remove any natural objects. However, please do your part by carrying out trash and litter.
  • Note the park hours and make sure that you finish your outing before the park closes.

Enjoy the beautiful landscape!
